Sonorama Discos is proud to announce the pre-order of our upcoming release by Chicago based Venezuelan producer and Dj , Bumbac Joe. Available on vinyl for the first time this release  features a pair of tropical stormers ready to take on any summer dance floor.

Having performed alongside artists such as Sinkane & Shantel & The Bucovina Club Orkestar, Bumbac Joe stirs his beats into the US cauldron once again with this 7” release fusing Afro-Latin rhythms and electronics in his unique style. “Hot Revolution” originally a freestyle Afro-Peruvian festejo rhythm here gets a fresh new remix with a dose of tropical bass for the dance floor.

On the B-side Juan Tomás Martínez (former singer and percussionist of world-touring Spanish band Canteca de Macao) brings vocals and percussion together with the sax of James Julius Anderson to season this tribute to the famous song “Juancito Trucupey”, previously popularized by Venezuelan salsa stars Oscar De León and the ‘Guarachera de Cuba’ Celia Cruz.

This release also features new original artwork by Chicago-based Mexican artist/illustrator Chema Skandal.

About the artist:

Bumbac Joe, né Leopoldo Bello — Lima-born Venezuelan who Madrid embraced as an adopted son — is a DJ/producer whose beats and grooves summon listeners into the fire of Latin American dance. Rich with the sonorous outpourings of his travels, Bumbac Joe’s music erupts with rhythms of Peruvian Festejo, Venezuela’s folkloric Golpe Larense, jazzy Salsa Brava from Caracas, afrobeat mixed with the particular calypso of El Callao, and mestizo flamenco from the streets of Madrid. Taking his sampling, looping and remixing into the studio, this beatmaker — now based in Chicago — transforms folkloric rhythms into topical beats and brings marginalized music onto the contemporary dance floor. The result is a unique musical mélange, a bricolage that seizes the soul of beat programming.

With his latest EP, The Hot Revolution, Bumbac Joe stirs his beats into the US cauldron. The title song, “Hot Revolution”, infuses electronic beats with Afro-Peruvian rhythms, Venezuelan tamunangue and Spanish bulerias under the vocal styling of Sarah Gilbert (a.k.a Meadow Parish). Juan Tomás Martínez (former singer and percussionist of world-touring Spanish band Canteca de Macao) is featured on ‘The Hot Revolution’ EP along on ‘Festejo Trucupey’ featured on this release.
