Watch out! Sonorama brings you its seventh podcast! This week we’ve let the week’s current events dictate our theme for this week; given that May 1st just passed, along with Cinco de mayo, as well as the ongoing situation occurring in Arizona, we’ve dug up some socially conscious artists from the around the globe and attempt to explore both the music and the rhythms that have been employed to resist the powers that be, raise awareness to a number of social issues, or to simply remember those who’ve been lost in the struggle. There’s some driving afro-beat rhythms from both Colombia and Ghana, politically charged trova from Latin America, 70’s funk from the states and Brazil,of course some fuzzed out psych rock, and to round things out a bumpin’ Latin disco version of the 70’s hit “Ain’t no Stoppin’ us Now”, along with some other nice surprises. Enjoy the tunes…loud. EB & CG
