(((Sonorama Podcast))) No.9: Latin funk & Beyond

  1. -:-- / -:--

Hello everybody, we’ve once again dusted off our records to bring you another hours worth of  grooves for your body and soul, this time bringing you a serving of tasty funk from Latin America and beyond. We start things in out in Colombia with a twisted reading of  the Fatback Band’s “Wicky Wacky” , next check out a pair of moogy funk covers of Beethoven’s “5th” and Perez Prado’s “Que Rico Mambo”, we also check out some rare grooves from Spain, and there’s a really wicked little funk track by Doc Severnison who was amazingly was also trumpeter on Johnny Carson’s Tonight Show. Also in the mix, is a slow groover from Sola, a singer from Mexico who recorded a little politically charged song “Tabu Tabu”, from Campeche, Mexico Los Socios del Ritmo are represented here with a rare spacey funk track, and to round things out an extended but really great cut by Ricardo Marrero and The Group with a brilliant arrangement by Marrero with some equally great and soulful vocals by Angela Boffill.  Enjoy the grooves.
